+41 aims to put Swiss graphic design on the map. The collective explores new ways to combine easily wearable clothes and printed and embroidered visuals derived from their graphic worlds.
+41 was set up in October 2001 by Philippe Cuendet, Laurence Jaccottet and Ivan Liechti, three graduate students from Écal (École cantonale d’art de Lausanne) and all members of //DIY graphic agency (www.diy.li). The name +41 is a reference to the international dialing code of Switzerland in an attempt to establish a solid Swiss identity.
One way +41 increases its visual consistency is by controlling the entire creation process. They not only design the clothes, they also photograph the campaigns and create the visual promotions.
To this day, 4 collections have been released. +41 has also collaborated with brands like Nike, Etnies Plus, NSL, 242 and expanded its activities to music publishing via +41 records.
